“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2
Do you ever feel the pressures of this world tugging on you?
Just over 8 years ago, I accepted Jesus into my heart as Lord of my life. Growing up, I would often seek out opportunities to be different, so this scripture, Romans 12:2, quickly caught my eye and became what I labeled as my “favorite verse.”
As I have continued on in my faith, this verse seems to circle back into my mind every so often and oddly enough, it seems to bring a fresh meaning every single time.
Over these past few weeks I have often felt the words of the world tugging me in one direction or another. Telling me that I should do this or be that. In perfect timing, this verse was brought to my attention yet again.
Do not conform to the ways of this world. We are called to be set apart; to be different. I have even asked God specifically to set me apart; to make me different. Yet so often I find myself wanting to blend in, to be the same, to do this or be that. Why?
I want to encourage you today. If you find yourself growing weary in chasing the ways of this world, be reminded of the beauty in being set apart. Filter out the words of this world and renew your mind with words of truth. You were created to be different. You are the only version of you and you are not called to conform, but to be transformed.
