Be Still in the Noise

Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to spend three months in Boston, Massachusetts. It was there that I began to grasp what it means to “be still” in a whole new way.

After running along the Charles River, I often made my way over to a bench with the view that you see pictured above. With my headphones out, I would simply take a few minutes to take in the world around me and to just be still.

I could hear the constant buzz of cars and horns honking. People were constantly passing on the path right in front of me. But it was almost as if the greater the noise and motion around me, the more aware I became of my momentary stillness. I became aware of each breath I took and it was as if every worry or thought escaped my mind as I embraced the quiet in the chaos.

This world can get hectic. Schedules get busy and days begin to pass by in the blink of an eye.

It’s not about silencing the noise around you, it’s about being still in the midst of the noise.

Today, I want to invite you to find your moment to be still no matter where you may be, who you are with, or what you are doing. Embrace the quiet in the chaos 🔸
